Wood-grain steel sheet uses cold-rolled steel strip as its base, saving the cost of intermediate coatings. It was widely used in the early days and boasts a smooth, beautiful appearance while maintaining the workability of cold-rolled steel. However, even minor scratches in the surface coating expose the cold-rolled base to air, causing red rust to quickly form on the exposed metal. Therefore, this type of product is limited to temporary isolation measures and interior applications where requirements are low. Due to its poor corrosion resistance, it has now been largely phased out. It requires high cleanliness and a thin coating. After curing with an organic coating, the resulting product is electrogalvanized color-coated steel sheet. Due to the thin zinc layer (typically containing 20g/m2), this product is not suitable for exterior applications such as walls and roofs. However, due to its attractive appearance and excellent workability, it is primarily used in home appliances, audio equipment, steel furniture, and interior decoration.
